One of the best ways to truly understand Estonia is to join us in the sauna!

'How to sauna the Estonian way' is your opportunity to enjoy a relaxing Estonian sauna, while also learning about how Estonian sauna culture has developed over thousands of years. We'll start by discussing ancient sweat culture and its earliest origins here among Finno-Ugric and Baltic peoples and finally look at why the sauna is still important to Estonians today. Along the way, we'll also look at old beliefs, new science, weird history and interesting traditions around the sauna.

Everyone is welcome, including groups and solo travellers, whether you are an experienced sauna-goer or have never been to one before. You can enjoy the sauna at your own pace and we'll guide you through everything you need to know.

Anni and Adam are the hosts. Over the past few years, they've travelled around Estonia and beyond together to find weird and wonderful saunas - while writing a book about Estonian sauna culture. Along the way, they opened a smoke sauna in Tallinn, competed in Estonia's sauna marathons, and became the first people to both start a company while having a sauna and vote in national elections while having a sauna. They've also featured regularly in international media coverage to promote Estonia as a sauna destination.

Arranging a private event? We also host sauna sessions for private groups at a range of locations chosen by us or them. In addition to presenting 'How to sauna the Estonian way', we can also offer a sauna quiz that covers fun and fascinating facts about sweat bathing traditions in Estonia and around the world. The questions will challenge both Estonians and international visitors!
